Susan’s Bio
A native Tulsan, Neal has over 30 years’ experience in government and community relations having served as chief of staff for Oklahoma Congressman Mickey Edwards and a lobbyist for the National Federation of Business in Washington, DC. Upon returning to Oklahoma, Neal served as vice president of Downtown Tulsa Unlimited for seven years working in community development. Taking time to raise a family, Neal lead Mayfest for four years through her own public relations firm.
While serving two terms as a City Councilor for district 9, Neal concurrently served as the Director for Tulsa’s Early childhood education campaign which led to her appointment by Mayors Kathy Taylor and Dewey Bartlett as Director of Community Development and Education at the city of Tulsa.
In 2010, Neal joined the University of Tulsa and served for 9 years as TU Vice President of Public Affairs, Research and Economic Development. In 2017, TU named Neal as Executive Director of Gilcrease Museum and the Helmerich Center for American Research.
Neal is married to Rick Neal and they have two sons, Joe and Jack.
